Fake news about CEO pay

We all know CEOs make hundreds of time what the average worker earns, right?

We may think we know, but we often don’t. Why might we believe this erroneous tidbit of misinformation? Because that’s what some politicians and the press what to build their policies on; the envy and division they can create among Americans.

You are being manipulated with highly selective misinformation.

Take a look at this Google search. See the headlines. Too bad it’s not true.

“Bosses, “CEOs”❓ Nope, they are referring only to CEOs of S&P 500 companies and they are not talking about pay, but total compensation that includes salary and bonuses, but mostly at risk stock compensation such as options where estimated value relies on a mathematical pricing model called Black Scholes and in many cases the total compensation also includes the future value of a pension.

If you want to see what S&P CEO compensation really means to workers of such companies, take the CEOs compensation for cash and non-cash and divide it among all the workers. Here’s an example. https://quinnscommentary.com/2019/07/17/ceo-pay-and-your-pay-gobbledygook/

Now, take a look at real CEO pay:

The median annual wage for chief executives was $189,600 in May 2018. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $68,360, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $208,000.Sep 4, 2019

  1. Bosses? Then it only fair that their stories start reporting total compensation for the average worker too. Then the fights will start on why a minimum wage worker with medical insurance would be compensated at a higher percentage then somebody making a few dollars more. One reason will be because medical insurance is fixed and not based on income thus the total compensation would be higher for the lower worker. The graph plot would look more like a J than an arrow straight up.
