Why are Medicare Premiums going up 14.5%

In part because Congress limited the 2021 increase to 25% of what it should have been and now that shortfall must be recouped. Congress did beneficiaries no favor with that move.

The bigger-than-anticipated increase is partly attributed to rising prices and utilization across the health care system and congressional action that limited the increase in the 2021 Part B premium.

Additionally, contingency reserves have been increased to account for potential new treatment costs incurred by the program.

  1. Politicians have a habit of kicking the can down the road. Doing so hides the true costs. Just wait for the pain that is coming from the forbearance on mortgages, student loans, rent and the debt associated with all the stimulus that seems like it went to those who didn’t need it..
