Like many Americans I believed that most of the TARP money has been or will be repaid and that the government will make money in the process. Apparently that is not true, read this article from Huffington Post:

Pay particular attention to the fundamental issue raised, the one related to false perceptions of what we have done and what we think we have done. Given the government’s penchant for not understanding the real problem, let alone solve for it I should have known better.
