We can’t control what others do and we can’t stop misfortune from striking. But we can control our own actions. Those who are financially prudent will most likely enjoy success, even if events don’t always go their way.
On one hand, I think that government telling us what to eat is an intrusion to our personal liberties, but on the other, they already do govern what we put in our bodies by legislating ingestion of drugs and chemicals. The government’s rationale is that certain drugs or chemicals are bad for us and generate costs to society. Very few people take issue with that logic so what is the problem with regulation of foods which are harmful? An obese diabetic or a strung-out junkie both pose costs to society so why should government treat the causes differently?
The Government can start dictating to me when they start balancing the budget, until then. Shut up
