Why I wouldn’t want to work in a doctor’s office

I took this picture a few days ago in a doctor’s office. Not much to see I admit, but take a closer look and you will see notices required by federal regulation, about paying for care, about health plans no longer accepted, about co-payments, etc.

This is all about the business of health care. The complicated, disjointed, uncoordinated business of health care and all of it adds to the cost of the office visit … which by the way is an amount unknown to me and in any case I don’t care. You see, my Medicare deductible is satisfied, my supplemental coverage deductible is satisfied and no matter what the charge, it won’t cost me a dime.

I don’t have to pay for all that administrative nonsense in a doctors office. Ain’t it great when health care is “free?”

P.S. I took the picture while my wife was filling out six pages of forms which provided the same information she gave in five other doctor’s offices during the previous twelve months none of which can see the information provided to the other. Ironic isn’t it, I can pay any charges with my credit card and three seconds later be notified of the transaction on my iPhone, but my doctors can’t exchange information about my health and care provided… and you thought the problem was insurance company salaries, ha!
