Help from Healthcare.gov – let’s hope this experience does not portend the future

2013

Recently I visited healthcare.gov to see what plans are available now in my state. This site has been up for years. What I found is that the site has been changed in preparation for Obamacare as of October 1, 2013. One new feature is a live chat. You can ask questions and “talk” to a representative. I did so on a Sunday morning. Following is my chat.

Note my question and then the answer I received which ignored my actual question. Then note the answer I received to my follow up question. Let’s hope this friendly, but unhelpful (at present) experience is not an indication of the type of service HHS will provide to people searching for coverage starting in October.

What I found out a few days later by doing a bit of research on healthcare.gov is that the site I was looking for in my question has been moved, but is available.  Here it is, too bad the person on the other end of the chat didn’t know this.
