What will Affordable Care Act health insurance plans cost?

2013

The premiums for the new health insurance exchange plans are rolling in. Good thing too since there are only a few weeks before they will be needed to start enrollment. Forbes and the Manhattan Institute have developed a tracking map on a state by state basis showing the premiums in the exchange compared with current individual plans.

Some rates are lower in the exchanges; many are higher. A good example is New York where exchange rates are 29% lower mainly because New York previously required open enrollment without regard to pre-existing conditions thereby driving up premiums. With the exchange insurers are betting on a larger pool of people and hopefully less adverse selection. This is why a robust enrollment in the exchanges is so critical.

Check out your state here (not all states have reported premiums at this point)
