Thoughts on the Obama fix for people losing their health insurance

2013

After reflecting on what I heard the President say yesterday about fixing the situation of people losing their health insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act, my opinion of this man and his handlers is lower than ever.

First, since when has it been possible to change the requirements of a law by writing a letter to someone telling them it’s ok if you ignore the requirements of the law? Supposedly, the government has the power not to enforce a law, but only when it does not have the ability to do so. LOL😳 I’m glad I’m not an insurance company taking this risk.

Second, the President himself made it blatantly obvious that the only reason he was taking any action was to help protect Democratic legislators up for re-election in 2014.

Third, the move increases the risk of higher exchange premiums as the result of younger people keeping minimal health plans and others keeping catastrophic plans they can’t buy on the exchanges because they are over age thirty.

Fourth, he merely shifted responsibility (or attempted to) from his administration to the state insurance commissions who may or may not allow the changes.

Fifth, the fix is for 2014 only thereby only moving and not solving the problem at all. But what you don’t here:

WSJ 11-15-13 In a letter to state insurance commissioners issued Thursday by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the administration offered some details on which insurance plans could continue to be sold next year. The letter said insurers can keep offering individual and small-group plans that take effect between Jan. 1, 2014, and Oct. 1, 2014, without violating the health law. The small-group plans are typically offered to groups of fewer than 50 people.

The letter also says the administration would look at the impact of the policy and consider “whether to extend it beyond the specified timeframe”—in essence, leaving the door open for people to keep plans that begin in 2015.

Six, he has placed insurers in an untenable position having to restructure their plans in a couple of months and he caused incredible confusion for Americans directly affected.

This President’s ability to manage anything is a joke. His abilities end with his rhetoric espousing his left wing ideology.

This isn’t about Obamacare, it’s about incompetence, it’s about short-sighted politicians over promising to garner votes and under delivering. It’s about an ideology that promotes more and more government solutions while knowing full well that is the most inefficient, costly way of doing anything.

  1. well…very well put! I find it absolutely amazing how his supporters continue to run cover for him.Of course except for those democrats up for re-election in 2014 .He has proven himself to be the greatest political, inveterate liar of the 21st century. Even more astounding is the fact he was capable of winning re-election .He is the “pop culture”president ,however, his popularity is on the wane as the curtain is now drawn and he is exposed as the “wizard of nothing”.
Actually I think Charles K. got it right. This very well may be the beginning of the end for big government liberalism.

  2. His entire administration is built with people who have never held a real job. Also, he is finally get called out about his lying. None of his speeches are truthful and if you listen you will hear the change in his attitude. This fix will go nowhere, it will take months for them to turn around. I would just trash the Bill and actually do one that makes sense.
