If you think the Affordable Care Act is complicated, hard to understand or too full of government control …

Most Americans get their information about Obamacare from the news and what they get is pretty superficial. Behind the scenes are thousands of pages of regulations that health insurers, health care providers, employers and others must navigate and then figure out what needs to be done for compliance. The detail is infinite and cadres of lawyers, consultants and actuaries are needed to interpret them.

Frequently regulations are issued in proposed, temporary or interim form and ultimately (someday) in final form which means you not only have to figure out what to do and when to do it, but do so knowing that what you did may be different than what you ultimately must do … got it? 😏

For the adventurous among you, take a quick scan at these recently released regulations. This is a test, all you have to do is tell us what they are about? Hint, they directly affect your employer and ultimately what you pay for health insurance. 👎

  1. Surely you jest! 72 pages you would need a lawyer to understand1 Have you visited the government website to sign someone up? I did in trying to help my daughter and found that what is shown on the sign up page where you enroll is not what the “explanation of benefits” is when you contact the health care company. A $500 deductible is actually $5600 and the copay of $10 to see a doctor is actually $75 after you pay the deductible! They are lying to us. Blue Cross says they are trying to get the government to correct this. Meanwhile folks that don’t check with the Health Care Provider don’t know what they are signing up for!
