Inequality, lack of opportunity, stagnant incomes … nobody is going anywhere

Inequality is a popular word these days. It’s a good word if you are a politician and a better word if you are looking for an excuse and someone else to blame. Yes, inequality exists. It has always existed and always will. The cream rises to the top, not everyone is motivated, people have different priorities. Something’s make people happy, but never rich; so be it.

The real key is not equality, but opportunity. No one should artificially be prevented from taking advantage of opportunities in life and I submit they are not prevented.

In any case, the political left pounding on this upsets me. It is a ploy for getting votes and little more and the idea that higher taxes will somehow change inequality, create opportunity or motivate people is laughable.

In reviewing this blog I remembered something I wrote over a year ago. It’s about me, not that I am special or smarter than the average person, but I did grab every opportunity possible and created a few myself. I did nothing anyone else couldn’t do as well in one form or another.

So, what I want to know is why are things so different now? Sure, the opportunities come in different forms, the challenges are different, but what is fundamentally different that inhibits getting ahead if you want to?

Just to refresh your memory, here is what I wrote previously. Take a look and then please comment on this inequality thing we are so obsessed with.
