How to end wars “responsibly”

Who in their right mind would not want to end a war, especially if you could do it “responsibly” whatever that means. Apparently our President knows; he has done it twice.

As far as I can tell “responsibly” means you forget about years of fighting and dying by thousands upon thousands of Americans, you leave behind vast quantities of military equipment, and you watch from afar as the people you were fighting gradually take over the country you left, capture the equipment you left and proceed to kill off their countrymen who are in opposition.

I’m thinking a better word may be capitulation. The only problem is no war has been ended, no victory won for anyone and once again Americans are left asking, why?

President Obama is responsible for many things indeed, some of which will haunt us for decades. “Ending” two wars is not among those things. He has, however, clearly demonstrated to the insurgents, terrorist, Islamists and others that time is on their side. How responsible is that?

“President Obama promised to responsibly end the war in Iraq and he did,” she said.

  1. IF – And that’s a BIG IF – Americans are “why” we are leaving Afghanistan, tell them to ask Bush (the dumber), war criminal Dick Cheney and the rest of the right wing ideologues who got us into a long and unwinnable war so the military-industrial complex could profit from the manufacturing of weapons of war. Most notably the personal enriching of Dick Cheney while at Halliburton.
