This is a good review of the Affordable Care Act with one exception, the one that is always overlooked. I urge you to read the original article in full.
Oh, that exception? The idea that just because premiums are subsidized for many people, health care is affordable. If the law had really made health care affordable, subsidies would not be necessary. But that’s the ongoing essence of the problem.
Is the Affordable Care Act Working?
After a year fully in place, the Affordable Care Act has largely succeeded in delivering on President Obama’s main promises, an analysis by a team of reporters and data researchers shows. But it has also fallen short in some ways and given rise to a powerful conservative backlash.

Well put Dick. If there ever was a case for requiring a bill to have more than just a single vote to pass it….given the gravity of its impact to say nothing of the billions of dollars involved, it is the so-called affordable health care act. Can’t blame it on the Constitution or perhaps the win of Al Franken who voted for it and sealed the 51 votes needed Perhaps the greatest “Robin Hood”program of the Obama administration. is all i can say. It’s where you take from peter and give to paul. Great for insurance companies (who profit in the aggregate), perhaps some doctors (but many are opting out), but worse for many who see nothing but escalating premiums , ridiculous deductibles and narrower choices and subsidies for many.others.
Income redistribution anyone?
