Here is an article well worth reading, especially if you are one of those smart ass whippersnappers who think they will never grow older, slower and smarter. Yes, I did say smarter. While I admit looking at the obituaries these days those folks seem to be passing away at younger and younger ages, getting old is liberating. Sometimes you just don’t give a crap. 😛 Believe it or not those of us with rusting hulls still feel 50, 30 or at times 18 on the inside. If you are young, maybe you will be lucky and feel this way someday, except that those tattoos on your chest may be a constant reminder of your age as you view them closing in on your naval.
All this old stuff is relative in any case. I was standing in line to check out at a store today. I was second in line, but there was a long delay it seems the older woman in front of me had a hard time finding the money in her purse. She then had a harder time understanding what she owed and then counting out her money. When she left with her cart she forgot her cane and I had to wait while it was retrieved. Frustrating, right❓
I was really annoyed until it dawned on me; you’re 71 yourself, you fool, some day you may be lucky enough to be old, old and it will be harder to find your cash. Remember that the next time you encounter a seasoned citizen.
LONDON — WHY do we have such punitive attitudes toward old people? Granted, the ancients did hideous things to elders who were unable to work but still needed food and care, but in more recent times, that had changed: In 18th-century New England, it was common for people to make themselves seem older by adding years to their real age, rather than subtracting them.
