General Patton must be spinning in his grave looking down on the inept, look over your shoulder, politically correct policy setting by our politicians and this Administration. Patton warned us about the Soviet Union; he was ignored and millions of people in Eastern Europe suffered for decades.
As much as we would like to avoid war and ignore the Middle East and the maniacs running around there, we can’t. Our worlds are too intertwined. You simply can’t ignore evil anywhere and if you do, it will overpower you at some point.
Enter our President seeking approval to fight ISIS, sort of. Knowing what we do about this evil and what it is capable of, why in the world would we publicly announce our intentions including a time limit for action and a ban on certain combat⁉️ Can you imagine Roosevelt or Churchill saying anything close to that in WWII? We will get even with Japan for Pearl Harbor, but only if we can do it in 36 months. Can you imagine Lincoln approaching the Civil War this way?
If the Islamic State poses a “grave threat,” then you deal with it as any grave threat to society, period‼️
This isn’t about war or no war, it is about making a decision and then making it meaningless (like the health insurance mandate which has been watered down to ineffectiveness).
Nobody in this Administration has the guts to even stick with its own policies.
The outright stupidity of this Administration’s policy makers is beyond comprehension.
Democrats overall were receptive to the administration’s concepts for the Authorization of the Use of Military Force, which would include a three-year limit to the war against ISIL, a ban on “enduring” ground combat operations and a repeal of the 2002 congressional approval of the Iraq War. But several Democrats also asked the White House’s top lawyer to consider prohibiting almost all use of ground troops and repealing the 2001 war authorization.
QUINNSCOMMENTARY 
Several years ago, when I began reading your blog, I was impressed with your knowledge regarding healthcare matters and Social Security. Over the months and years since then, I have learned that your knowledge and understanding of politics and foreign policy is about on a par with my dog. This posting and your most recent ranting on these subjects all sound precisely like a senile Ted Cruz. Your postings are increasingly disgusting and Teapublican in nature. Roosevelt and Churchill were in a world of the 1940’s. This is 2015, Mr. Quinn, this relegates you to about 70+ years behind the times. You are one of many who are degrading our world reputation by demonstrating that the United States of America does not speak with one voice.

Wilson, your postings are so incoherent, off topic and always written through such a partisan prism (even when the topic doesn’t call for it) that it is impossible to take you seriously. Normally I ignore the irrelevance of your posts but it bothers me that you feel the need to insult Mr. Quinn simply because you may not agree with his opinion. Frankly, that is an act of ignorance and inability to put together a well thought out, objective retort. I’m sure you’ll simply find a way to try to insult me in your response (par for the course) and claim I’m a right wing conservative (Inspite of the fact that I haven’t expressed any political opinion whatsoever) but I could hope beyond hope that you would actually put together a reasoned, well constructed response to Mr. Quinn’s post.

Rob you are exactly right. We thought Wilson had gone away after his Democrat friends got their butts handed to them in the election. Hopefully Wilson will go to the MoveOn website with his Sociaiist positions. Wilson must be from Vermont as he sounds like Bernie Sanders Democratic Socialist. Wilson is a total joke and the laughing stock of this website with his dumb positions which nobody agrees with except illegals and people looking for a handout. Dick Quinn makes Wilson look like a fool on a regular basis but Wilson is too stupid to recognize it.

Our president has the benefit of the greatest military intelligence organization in today’s world and the minute to minute advice of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. And you are an aging former corporate benefits manager who truly believes that you are more informed and more capable than our twice elected Commander in Chief? You still don’t get it Mr. Quinn. Who are you to question the strategies and policies of our President and the Joint Chiefs of Staff? The three year stipulation is brilliant because it forces the next president and the next congress to address the issue again. By no means does it tell ISIL that we will fight them for only three years. You would certainly be a horrible poker player and even worse as a foreign policy negotiator. The answer to your question is “YES”, but you will not understand it.

The November election, with 1/3 of the electorate voting, was no mandate for anything and was meaningless. It has been comical for five weeks watching the new Teapublican congress demonstrate that they are totally incapable of legislating anything. Your beloved Teapublicans are now both in control and out of control. Your Teapublicans stand for nothing, create nothing, support nothing and obstruct everything. I’m not going away and will be here long after you have both realized that you are on the wrong side of history.
