Think beyond the rhetoric, please‼️

I couldn’t resist this, sorry, but I never cease to be amazed at the simple reactions people have to glib, political rhetoric. Does anyone think beyond the headlines and promises? Does anyone ask questions about the promises they are given? Based on this exchange below, apparently critical thinking and questioning is pretty rare.

In this example the Booker statement is hailed as a “plan.” Do you see a plan? Do you see anything more than you have heard from politicians for decades?

Look at the chart from another populist phony, Robert Reich. That’s accurate for discretionary spending, but unless you look closely and understand the federal budget, it’s quite misleading as Social Security, Medicare and other entitlements are actually 69% of the total budget while military spending is 18%. Spending fixed by law is not discretionary.

Regardless of your political position, left or right, Republican or Democrat, look beyond the rhetoric, get the facts, ask tough questions about promises and statements made‼️
