62% Say Government Has Too Much Power in America Today

imageWho would have thunk it?  If you read the papers, online news, social media or listen to the TV, you have to be amazed at this survey.  I was convinced that Americans were ready to simply turn over their paychecks and sign up for their benefits.

Nearly two-out-of-three Americans believe the government has too much power in this country and that too many of their fellow countrymen are dependent on the government for financial support.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 62% of American Adults believe there is too much government power and too little individual freedom in the United States today. Just 10% think the opposite, that there is too much individual freedom and too little government power. Sixteen percent (16%) think the balance is about right, while 12% are not sure.

  1. An old saw: “He who pays the piper calls the tune.”

But in the U.S. too many citizens have convinced themselves that they can get free tunes, and that the music is their choice.

    1. Well put. You can go to a govt website and see a list, a long list, of all the benefits one may be entitled to and yet many people think only the “wealthy” should and are taxed to pay for it all.
