This is from a New York Times article on voter lawsuits, 6-3-15
On Thursday, Mrs. Clinton will tackle the issue of ballot access head-on in an address at Texas Southern University, a historically black college in Houston. She is expected to condemn the Supreme Court’s 2013 ruling striking down an important provision of the Voting Rights Act, which opened the way for states to pass laws requiring voters to present government-issued photo identification at the polls.
Mrs. Clinton is also expected to single out laws in Texas and in North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, which voting rights groups say limit participation, especially among minorities, the poor and younger voters who disproportionately cast their ballots for Democrats.
Isn’t it ironic that these groups routinely vote for people who promise them more and more and yet it doesn’t seem to dawn on anyone that if you feel the need election after election to vote for Democrats than what they promised you didn’t happen or didn’t make you better off in any case?

Mr. Quinn – I’m certain that you know this, but just for the record – there are more Democratic voters in this nation than Teapublican voters – Teapublicans cannot win elections unless they can suppress the votes of Democratic voters – the Teapublican platform is in direct opposition to the polled will of the American electorate on all issues in all published recent polls – Teapublicans are about 50 years on the wrong side of history and the American will. You know it and you should just open up and admit it.

You really shouldn’t combine the far right Teaparty folks with Republicans. They are not the same animal. And as far as surveys go, I think you are wrong. First, the President’s rating is not even 50%, and most people think the Country is headed in the wrong direction.
Where there is support is not unexpected. It’s stuff where it sounds good to get more free stuff like raising minimum wage, free college and higher taxes on somebody else. Who wouldn’t like all the populist promises? Delivery on them is another matter. Take infrastructure for example. What happened to all the money allocated in 2009 and 2010? What examples do we have of spending delivering on the promise? Government is notorious for missing deadlines and budgets so why do we believe today’s promises will accomplish anything?
Look at the promises for raising the minimum wage. That’s a cruel hoax. Raise it already, but doing so provides virtually no gain if people remain in such jobs and then suffer the impact of higher costs all down the line.
The problem is that few people left or right think through the consequences of their promises, actions and proposals.
Step back and think about all you have heard in the last six years and today. What was the theme? Class warfare, you are a victim of others, the deck is stacked against your, others don’t pay their fair share, insurers are the cause of high health care costs, the middle-class is struggling, inequality, there is no opportunity, bankers caused the home crisis, not irresponsible borrowers and spenders, the American Dream is dead, war on women, etc.
Not one uplifting, encouraging thing, not even the slightest attempt to encourage responsibility or positive action by the individual.
Is this the message you heard growing up? I doubt it.
People who accept all this without question also must accept turning most of their security over to government and thus become dependent on future political promises.
I simply do not think that is a desirable direction or one that will lead to anything but mediocrity for America.

Thank you for your expected Reich-wing pedantic response. I understand that you do not agree with, like or approve of the quite obvious mood and direction of the entire world as you grow older. You will quite probably rant and rave and against reality until the day you die. Take heart that, indeed, you tried to preserve antiquity.

Just once, once it would be nice to receive comments that address the issues pros and cons of positions instead of broad condemnation based on ideology. Exactly what is the mood and direction of the entire world?
