If we had spent the last seven years focused on the economy and the structural changes (think disruptive technology) and global impact we face, we wouldn’t need to be fighting over the minimum wage, interest rates, inflation rates, inequality or even the Social Security COLA.
If Americans had been told the truth about the economy and jobs and pay raises and why things will never be as they were in decades past instead of being told how they are victims and things are rigged and unfair, everyone would be better off. In my opinion we are seeing a gradual equalizing of the US standard of living with the rest of the developed world.
No amount of wealth transfer will solve these problems. No increase in government-provided benefits will solve the problem. A robust growing economy will.
Ask your favorite politician what he/she proposes to do about the economy.
