We hear a lot these days about student loans and their burden even leading to the call for free college. What we don’t hear about is the cause of the burden; mainly the choice or lack thereof of income generating college majors and the fact that defaulting on student loans is almost exclusively the result of dropping out of college or lack of a four-year degree from a for-profit institution.

Those who appear most dissatisfied with our economic system and hence democratic socialist supporters are studying more in areas which provide some of the lowest income possibilities.
So the question is, how much of an individual’s life choices become the burden of society?
