The New York Times has an interesting article with the above title. It contains a good discussion; not about rising health care costs, but rising health insurance premiums.
For some reason when we hear that premiums are rising by 10, 20 or even 30%, our reaction is “outrageous!” We want regulators and politicians to do something and often they do resulting in the problem being compounded or falsely mitigated by higher government premium subsidies as in the case of Obamacare.
Premiums are rising at a substantial rate because the people enrolled in coverage are using health care services.
