This man is running for governor of New Jersey and in NJ, governors are adept at pandering to public employee unions, especially teacher unions so this position is not surprising.
PARCC is The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. It’s a way of assessing students and the people who teach them. Unions historically don’t like this type of individual assessment.
I don’t know much about this evaluation, but I do know we need some type of objective evaluation process. And I also know, letting “teachers teach” is not it.
The standard battle cry against such evaluations is “teaching to the test” and stress placed on students. My question is, if teachers are competent and teach the required material effectively, (let teachers teach) why is there a need to teach to the test? And equally important why should there be any stress placed on the students unless that stress is placed on them by teachers and school administrators?
