Rent for $500 a month; cost to buy $800. Do the math😰

A member of my family, totally disabled since birth, requires a oxygen concentrator. Medicare will not pay for the purchase, but instead pays $500 per month to rent it.

On the other hand, the equipment can be purchased for $800. Even if the concentrator had to be replaced occasionally purchasing still wins; but not over the federal bureaucracy so taxpayers are on the hook for $6,000 a year; $5,200 which is a waste.

We need changes to our health care system, but expanding the bureaucracy that is the federal government may not be the changes we need.
