QUINNSCOMMENTARY 
I read the comments on Market Watch and found the comment by the State of Hawaii retiree interesting. He said that Hawaii was a blue state and had great retiree benefits, including the State paying for Medicare premiums as well as additional health insurance.
I live in Washington State. It is also a very blue state. But the State does not provide subsidized health programs for retirees.. The do administer health programs for retirees, but the retiree pays the full premium.
