I am in the habit of reading TruthSocial several times a day.
As you may expect, it is all about Mr Trump. There is virtually nothing about the important issues we face as a country. Rather, it’s about Mr Trump being a victim, people out to get him and interference with the next election.
He spends his time name calling names and attacking people and institutions. The most frequent posters other than Mr Trump are Fox News and Breitbart.
There is no way to gain any information about what a presidential candidate should be talking about. There is no substance, no discussion.
It’s just me, me, me, attack, attack, attack. They are out to get me.
If you are going to pick someone to lead this country don’t you want at least a hint about how are problems will be handled?
On the other hand what better way to detract from the real issues than to play the victim to gain sympathy?
How about a comprehensive plan on immigration, not just secure borders?
What’s the plan for managing health care costs and assuring universal coverage instead of “great” health care?
Any interest in making Social Security and Medicare solvent or raising SS for the lowest 20% of earners? Apparently not.
Is there any substance or concern about the deficit and debt Mr. Trump, beyond your naive promise to make America rich and debt free?
I’ve never seen anything on TruthSocial mentioning poverty in this Country.
Trump supporters surely must be concerned about these things. They must have some idea what MAGA actually means beyond building walls, pipelines and undermining our system of government…
or do they?

Simply, thank you for a very wise post. The MAGA-Republican plan in general is mostly what they are against not what they actually will do.

As usual, we’ll thought out and written.
The bipartisan 2013 Senate Immigration Bill addressed all the issues in a comprehensive manner.
Republicans in the Senate approved it , Republicans in the House refused to do so.
I suppose the concept of compromise is as dead as the concept that facts are based upon evidence.

I, for the life of me, cannot fathom this fascination with trashing Donald Trump. It has been going on since 2016 and is irritating as all get out. If you don’t like the guy, don’t vote for him, after all this is a political office, we are talking about. He hasn’t been in office since January 2021. Why does the bashing continue? He is running again so go wave your placards for your candidate of choice and spend some time on other more important things than trying to bury someone who may or may not be the Republican candidate. The people who do the trash talking don’t vote Republican anyway so I say time is better spent on issues immediately affecting you.

A better question would be why does it bother you so much that the media is covering him? Sounds like you didn’t like the very points the Mr Quinn has made.

Republican/ Democrat, it doesn’t matter. All politicians make up stuff, exaggerate, pander for votes.
But Donald Trump is different, over the top. In short he is dangerous because he is willing to stop at nothing (apparently) to get his way and all the support he receives is without one concrete idea or proposal. Do we know where he stands on any critical issue beyond his hyperbole?
My opinion about him is only drawn from what he says, what he writes every day on his site. His words, actions, attacks on people and institutions tell me he is not fit to lead this country. I worry his verbosity will create more international problems. His thinking is simplistic. He appears to have minimal understanding of the economy, deficits and debt, global issues, even the Constitution – I know for sure how many Europeans view him. He shows no civility, dignity or respect for anyone. I seriously worry he will act as if he is running his own corporation should he be president again.
This, for me, is not about anyone else but the individual Mr Trump. If you don’t now, I urge you to follow him on TruthSocial and read his words.

What I am reading here is orange man is still bad. But he has been prove right about so many things. (He still is a sh*ty businessman.) The democrats have hated him since 2016 and that is the only thing they have pursued in congress when they were in charge.
But that doesn’t change the fact that nobody knows who is running the White House now. I am not better under Biden. None of his governmental run-a-way three letter agencies are making my life safer or better from the EPA to the DOJ.
The republicans also have nothing for over a decade or more.
The democrats are the party of chaos, lack of law so that they can maintain disorder. They believe the way to unity is through segregation and identity politics. In the name of the Green Deal and climate change, you soon will not be able to cook or heat your house with natural gas.
I don’t want either Biden or Trump. I want somebody else but the question is who?
I read this blog for the insights to retirement and benefits. If this is going to become a political forum without factual, verifiable, concrete information from ANY candidate on how they are going to effect my benefits, then I’ll have to move on.

I’m certainly not a Trump fan, but the idiot in the White House and the far-left crew with him are selling us down the river.

I have done quite well under the Biden administration. What is it that bothers you so much, and what specific policy proposals is Trump making that would address your concerns?

Supporters have already witnessed the results of the Trump administration’s policies o energy independence, immigration, security at home and abroad and building wealth. Now compare all that and what the disaster we now have in the White House and his clown car administration and the choice on who we should support is clear. Yes most of us do not like the mean tweets but we love our country more

It’s not the mean tweets. You cannot compare the two administrations with the 100 year pandemic in the middle. Trump was a disaster in his first term and has promised to be worse in the second. Unless you consider retribution to be a valid platform.

You nailed it Stephen. Reducing the issues to “mean tweets” is just being intellectually dishonest. His administration was a colossal failure in every aspect. And we were fortunate that they were so bumbling and incompetent, otherwise they might have pulled off the overthrow of our democracy. But back to the point, there is no policy or platform, just nihilism, of which retribution is the main thrust.

It’s not about the mean tweets and attacks on government departments and people, to me it’s about the mental state and personality of the person making them.

What was his policy on immigration? Building wealth?

Easy record low illegal immigration’ by building walls, expelling illegal immigrates not opening up the borders and inviting them in. Forcing Mexico to secure their side of the border. You can’t argue that what we have now with this failed administration’s unsecured border is better. On wealth creation it is all about energy independence which we were with Trump and have seen a reversal under Biden and his war on fossil fuels. I know that since you obviously suffer from a bad case of TDS and you can’t separate the successful policies from the tweets. Buy try this have a bunch of swamp creatures and left wing nut jobs attack you for 6 or 7 years and see if your comments remain civil

See, what we need is facts to deal with, not general and incorrect statements. We need a comprehensive immigration policy and system, not walls. Consider these facts.
Illegal immigrants are vital workers in key industries we rely on such as agriculture and construction and they do not take jobs from others
Illegal immigrants pay billions into Social Security and Medicare and can’t collect benefits.
Illegal immigrants provide a net gain for our economy because they buy things, pay sales and other taxes.
There never was any open borders. Millions have been stopped and returned in the last few years. Building a wall was an expensive gimmick.
Illegal immigrants are not a bunch of criminals and drug dealers, but of course, there are some in every population
We may produce more energy than we need, but we need to import certain type of oil in any case. In 2023 we still export oil. U.S. refineries are well-suited to process heavy, sour crude oils. But the oil produced from the shale oil boom is primarily lighter and sweeter. Thus, U.S. oil producers can export this oil, while refiners can import the heavy, sour crude that they prefer.

You seem to make a lot of assumptions. I don’t think that I ever said that all illegal immigrants are criminals but really by definition they are here illegally. I also never said that immigrants are not vital to our economy but wouldn’t they be just as valuable if they came into the country legally. This administration’s policies are not just dangerous they are inhumane to the immigrants. Dumping 100s of thousands if not millions of people here illegally into cities with absolutely no plan to track, house, feed and ensure they appear for their hearings just wrong. But strangely I never saw a post from you calling out this injustice but then again the media seems to want to whitewash this and focus on trump. Not to mention the hypocrisy in the prosecution

Great points all around. I remember in 2020 when he was so devoid of any policy proposals that the GOP just gave up and didn’t even have a platform for the first time in modern history. It is like professional wrestling. People know it is fake and meaningless but some are still attracted to it anyway.
