Well here you go:
- The correct way is to compare the average CPI-W for the third quarter of the previous year with the current year. To estimate I use July, then the average of July and August and finally the average of July, August and September
- Another source simply uses the annual change in the CPI- W year over year from last September
- A third recent estimate uses the CPI-W for August rather than the average of July and August.
On October 12 we will know the CPI- W for September and then average the 3rd quarter to calculate the final COLA.
