I started this blog in May 2009 and since then have posted 6,643 times, a new post almost every day. I don’t do it to make money. My ad revenue is about $5.00 a month and I will be dropping ads next year. I thought they made the blog look more professional, but now it seems just cluttered and annoying.
During my working years with a large employer I spent much of my time communicating with employees about all things related to employee benefits and retirement and financial planning. When I retired I missed all that and was a bit bored.

In April 2018 I began submitting articles to Humble Dollar, a blog about all things related to personal finance. I am one of a few dozen writer. The owner and editor, Jonathan Clements, is a professional writer and expert on personal finance having been a columnist for the Wall Street Journal and written several books on personal finance.
My new goal in life is getting an article past Jonathan with the minimum editing.
Quinnscommentary is … well it’s about all kinds of stuff, but mostly trying to set the record straight on things that are important to people and maybe to provide some helpful information or ideas for consideration along the way. I cover Social Security, Medicare, health benefits, retirement, financial planning, spending, debt, etc.
I try to stay out of pure politics, but these days it’s not easy. We are so divided, so barraged with misinformation, so manipulated, it is frightening. Occasionally I do comment – mostly about the extreme views of the left and right.
To be sure my view of things is tempered by being born in 1943 – there weren’t many of us born in the middle of the war.
I hope you sign up to follow my ramblings.

Dick leave religion and politics at the door. Makes for good friends.

Mr Quinn: You are an anachronism from a distant time now within an ever evolving society. I come into contact with a lot of much younger people in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. Many are minorities from other countries. To get along I have needed to adapt my thinking and be accommodating. I suggest you set yourself up in some capacity to do the same. I think it would be hilarious to read about your new exposures!

Think about it. You could be like Mark Twain when he wrote an American in a foreign land with his self deprecating and sarcastic wit.
