Bezos owns what?

Ask about anyone and they likely will say Bezos owns Amazon. He did start the company and make it grow to the giant it is and in the process he made billions in stock value …

but he does not own Amazon as striking unions seem to think. In fact, he owns about 9% of the shares of Amazon.

Here are the top 10 largest shareholders of Amazon:

  1. Vanguard Group: As one of the world’s largest investment firms, Vanguard holds a significant portion of Amazon’s shares.
  2. BlackRock: Another major investment firm, BlackRock is a substantial shareholder in Amazon.
  3. State Street Corporation: A leading global financial services company, State Street is a significant investor in Amazon.
  4. FMR LLC: A prominent investment firm, FMR LLC holds a substantial stake in Amazon.
  5. VTSMX – Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund Investor Shares: This index fund, managed by Vanguard, invests in a broad range of U.S. stocks, including Amazon.
  6. VFINX – Vanguard 500 Index Fund Investor Shares: Another Vanguard index fund, VFINX tracks the performance of the S&P 500 Index, which includes Amazon.
  7. Geode Capital Management, LLC: An investment management firm, Geode Capital Management holds a significant position in Amazon.
  8. JPMorgan Chase & Co.: A major global financial institution, JPMorgan Chase is an investor in Amazon.
  9. Price T Rowe Associates, Inc.: A well-known investment firm, Price T Rowe Associates holds a stake in Amazon.
  10. Morgan Stanley: A leading global financial services firm, Morgan Stanley is an investor in Amazon.

Which means millions of American investors, 401ks and pension funds own Amazon.

Bezos base salary is $81,840 + – but look it up and you will see some outrageous hourly rate ($7,990,868) which is actually the gain in his net worth from investments-mostly Amazon stock.

That’s like saying your hourly pay is the gain in your 401k divided by 2080 yearly work hours.

  1. sounds like some of the silly and foolish thoughts you have been highlighting–why would so many things the unions tell us make any sense–don’t you just love Amazon??–just ordered two books and razors–should be here tomorrow–Bezos is a bozo when it comes to politics but he has changed the way we buy in this country.

  2. Somewhat different than a large gain in our 401k. The withdrawals from that go right up the income tax scale. The cap gains and dividend rates are a different animal.
