Aside from the strategic and security reasons for foreign aid, it is only about $72 billion a year.
To date, we have provided $66.5 billion in military assistance since Russia invaded Ukraine, most from defense stockpiles which means replenishing them creates revenue for defense contractors and employees.
None of this is long-term ongoing commitments as is Social Security.
Social Security is not funded from general revenue, it is self- funding. It is not part of the budget process.
Giving the Ukraine support funds to people on Social Security would provide about $1,000 ONCE. You cannot increase Social Security benefits.
QUINNSCOMMENTARY 
I don’t know what “IT” is either Quinn. The numbers being thrown around are always big and round and never the same. I’m talking about from the political – bureaucratic side, not from the ignorant masses as you call most Americans. The excuses for the Ukraine spend is strategic and security you say and that doesn’t pass muster. That’s not my point though.
As for the budget, I wouldn’t begin to say what’s legit and what’s not. I know what the broad items are and numbers given, like for Social Security or VA or whatever, but I don’t know what’s wrapped in those big numbers.
Just call me one of the ignorant masses.

$175 billion in 5 bills passed by Congress for aide to Ukraine:
1. $67.3 billion for weapons
2. $49 billion for government support–we pay for employees like 1st responders–general govt. workers–healthcare workers–.
3. $3.6 humanitarian aid
4. the rest goes for support our troops in Europe–feeding folks overseas who need this help–assisting Ukrainian refugees here in the States.
Neighbor a few houses down is a refugee with 2 young boys -from Kiev subway station where they lived to living next to me–what a deal! church sponsor pays rent to owner who is also in the “hood”– church no doubt receives federal funds for this service.
Trump’s saying $350 billion is being spent is twice the amount as above–some folks think he makes things up–I wonder why?
When everyone has an opinion and can spread it via social media no doubt you get crazy “facts” and opinions. The era of Tom Payne is over–we all get a say and it spreads like soft butter.
You know there were folks who believed the border was closed from 2021 to 2024. People will believe anything.
