Before the rumors start flying, let’s make it clear that illegal aliens and even those who may obtain a provisional legal status are not and will not be eligible for Obamacare. This is nothing new, such individuals were never eligible for similar federal benefits, including Social Security as many people believe.
“Consistent with current law, people with provisional legal status will not be eligible for welfare or other federal benefits, including subsidies or tax credits under the new health care law,” the administration said in a statement of the president’s principles for an immigration reform deal.
