Friend —
This just actually happened:
The House of Representatives passed one of the most unbelievable, unconstitutional attacks on women’s health in a long time.
It’s a bill written by Republican Arizona Congressman Trent Franks, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks, except in extremely limited circumstances — a direct legislative challenge to Roe v. Wade.
And 228 members of Congress just voted for it.
Maybe they weren’t paying attention to the reaction of Americans across the country last year who rejected candidates who wanted to restrict a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care
I guess it’s just me and my old fashioned ways, but I have trouble calling abortions “safe, affordable health care.” Is this what it means to be liberal? What’s really unbelievable is the characterization of casual abortions for birth control as women’s health.
As I read and re-read the above I get a sense of me, of selfishness, of my entitlement. But what do I know, I’m not a woman, my idea of safe, affordable health care is assuring the proper care during pregnancy followed by affordable pediatric care. I find the association between routine abortions and “women’s health” and “access to safe, affordable health care” offensive; a glib use of popular rhetoric if you will.

As a converted to pro-lifer…and a woman, I think your missing the boat. Roe v Wade is the law but what this recent bill does help, is to LIMIT the “pro-choice’ to below 20 weeks. Not a win-win but certainly better than before! Hopefully late-term, 3rd trimester abortions will be stopped and the killing of live babies will mercifully end~

I must be “old” too, because I don’t think abortion should enter into the healthcare equation. No matter what your beliefs on abortion, I don’t feel that “We the People” should be PAYING for it! And I AM a woman.
