Back pay for federal workers – vacation by any other name

The House voted 407-0 on Saturday to give back pay to the more than 800,000 federal workers who have been sidelined since Oct. 1 due to the first government shutdown in 17 years. The White House has endorsed the bill. Politico

Don’t you call that paid vacation? Shouldn’t they be back on the job now!

  1. Regarding the back pay issue, it sounds like we just gave all these folks a free pass on the time off and of course once again it’s on the wallets of the taxpayers. Shame on both houses.

  2. Sounds like another scare tactic by our wonderful Obama administration. Perhaps we can scare the public into siding with the Left.

    Let’ s face it, both parties are to blame but to resort to these schemes to get the public to side with you is preposterous.

    “If a member of the public asks whether their Social Security payment will be affected if the federal debt ceiling is not raised, you may give the following response: ‘Unlike a federal shutdown which has no impact on the payment of Social Security benefits, failure to raise the debt ceiling puts Social Security benefits at risk.’
