The following is a comment on a news service website. Of course it’s about Obamacare.
Unfortunately, this comment is representative of the view of many uninformed people. The ease at which they spread their knowledge is scary.
With respect to the comment about the $800 premium, I went to the highest cost county in one of the most expensive states in the Country and for a fifty year old I found a platinum plan, the highest level of coverage, that cost about $800. For a twenty something the premium was about $500. Both the gold and silver plans were less expensive. There is no reason to spend $800 per month.
What I found most interesting and most reflective of a lack of information, was the comment about salaries and bonuses and that the writer would be spending only hundreds on health care … let’s hope.
I have homeowners insurance, auto insurance, long-term care insurance, liability insurance and health insurance; quite frankly I hope I never collect a penny in claims on any one of them even knowing I’m subsidizing other people. I have life insurance too, but that’s out of my hands.
And just for the record, salaries and bonuses make up a very small portion of the premium you pay, just as they make up a small portion of the cost of everything you buy. Hey, the average new car monthly payment is over $450 and only because payments are being stretched over more months. Let’s get bent out of shape about that cost.
