The President’s choice for health care

News reports say the President made a symbolic enrollment in the DC health care marketplace and he selected a bronze plan for himself alone. It cost $400 a month in premium… “affordable?”

What they didn’t say is that such a plan has high out of pocket costs which may be fine for someone earning $400,000 a year.

The DC marketplace is one of those user friendly websites that does not allow you to see the plans before entering your personal information so I went to the Virginia exchange for Alexandria which is next to the District of Columbia.

Here are the bronze plans, their premium and especially their deductible and out of pocket costs. You decide, is this affordable health care? I’m thinking that last premium is a major error on the website, but who knows?
