myRA: Helping Millions of Americans Save for Retirement | The White House

Remember this❓What happened❓Do most people even remember this was announced in the last State of the Union speech? A Google search can’t find a mention since last February.

The word is (although not confirmed) that regulations implementing the myRA will be out sometime in December. Don’t hold your breath.

Properly used the myRA is a good deal; easy to save and tax free earnings, but where is it? How long before it is actually available and how long will it take for employers (still struggling with Obamacare) to get on board? It seems like this lofty promise is mighty slow to get off the ground.

Let’s do more to help Americans save for retirement. Today, most workers don’t have a pension. A Social Security check often isn’t enough on its own. And while the stock market has doubled over the last five years, that doesn’t help folks who don’t have 401(k)s. That’s why … I will direct the Treasury to create a new way for working Americans to start their own retirement savings: myRA.
