Mr. Walzak pointed to the may­or’s suc­cess as a mu­nic­ipal man­ager in ne­go­ti­at­ing con­tracts with more than two-thirds of the city work-force and his han­dling of the Ebola scare this fall.

Now, here is how the progressive mind works, here is how “success” is defined, how substance facts and figures are managed in pursuit of a progressive agenda. In the minds of these naive, short-sighted people, you don’t actually have to accomplish anything, just give people what they want. In this union settlement, raising worker cost sharing premiums was off the table while raising future deficits was ok. Who couldn’t be successful under those terms⁉️

While the labor settlement that Mr. de Blasio reached this spring with the teachers union significantly increased future-year budget deficits, his aides said these gaps are below historical averages from prior administrations. The adopted budget also includes about $500 million more in projected revenue than the current fiscal year…

This spring, Mr. de Blasio reached an agreement with the Municipal Labor Committee, an umbrella group of city unions, that is expected to generate $3.4 billion in health-care savings.
