Read the following and tell me how this makes sense. Do we actually know what the tuition should be? Is there transparency? Dare we even ask about quality?
Just as we don’t know what health care really costs because everyone pays something different and consumers cannot evaluate quality, so it is with higher education.
We are victims of our own perceptions. Higher costs must mean higher quality. A big name must mean better care or a better education. Challenging any of these perceptions is discouraged or we are fearful of doing so.
Hello, tuition is increasing twice the CPI and equal to or more than health care. What’s up with that or aren’t we supposed to ask. 😏

Several New Jersey college officials said judging schools by their tuition rates can be misleading. Only a fraction of students pay the full sticker price at most colleges because a high percentage of undergraduates receive scholarships and grants.
David Muha, a spokesman for the College of New Jersey, said costlier colleges may also be a bargain if students graduate in four years instead of having to stick around for another semester or two to complete their degrees due to overcrowded classes.
