$15.00 an hour; how stupid are we?

The issue is not $15.00 an hour as the minimum wage, the issue is how can we operate with a minimum wage that is different by the federal government, by state, by city and now by an industry within a city?

A panel appointed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo recommended on Wednesday that the minimum wage be raised for employees of fast-food chain restaurants throughout the state to $15 an hour. Wages would first be raised in New York City and then the rest of the state.

Politicians are beyond absurd in their actions and pandering to voting groups. So if you work for Wendy’s or KFC in NYC, you are worth $31,200 a year, but if you work for Carnegie Deli in NYC, you are worth less?

Can we get anything right?

Raising the minimum wage is fine, but if you think making people more comfortable in minimum wage jobs is the answer, I think you are wrong. We need to get people steadily moving the hell out of minimum wage jobs and the initiative is on them.

There are even reports that in some cities where the minimum has been raised that workers are asking to lower their working hours so that their total income does not rise thereby making them ineleigible for certain income-based benefits like SNAP (not to mention Obamacare).
