Listen to the political left and you will hear complaints about low wage growth and income growth going to a select few. Perhaps here is one reason.

In all fairness there are good reasons for the miserly raise proposed here. Things like low inflation, budgetary constraints and as the letter says, there is no need for a higher raise to attract needed employees.
Ummm, think about that when you hear the rhetoric from the left aimed at the private sector.
In the meantime, a new survey says private employers are planning to raise wages by 3% in the next year because of competition for new workers.
So what works, the markets or government dictates?


Factoid: Adjusting for inflation (standard CPI) federal salaries under the General Schedule are 5.4% more than they were in 2000.
