The Donald on health care reform “I’m going to take care of everybody”

Donald Trump is loud, you have to give him that. On the other hand he is like the tourist trying to get his message across to a local who doesn’t speak English by speaking louder and slower … the message still makes no sense to the local. So it is with the following (and I suspect with many other topics on Trumps agenda I am not familiar with).

The following is from a Thomas Friedman Op-ed in the NYT 11-11-15

Indeed, if I were writing a book about this campaign, it would open with Trump’s Sept. 27 CBS “60 Minutes” interview. Trump touts his plan for universal health care, telling Scott Pelley, “I am going to take care of everybody.” And when Pelley asks how, Trump gives the greatest quote so far of the 2015 campaign:

“The government’s gonna pay for it. But we’re going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most [part] it’s going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors, with great companies — and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.”

Regular readers will recall my criticism of all the nonsense promises made during the Affordable Care Act debate. But I have to say, the above takes the political promise to a new level while displaying a very low regard for the intelligence of the average voter.

“The governments gonna to pay for it,” Please tell me one thing that “the government” has paid for and while you are at it, tell me where “the government” got the money to do so.

I know Trump is a smart guy. I think you get fifteen IQ points for every billion dollars you have. Isn’t that the way it works? But come on, you can have “everything” and all you have to do is negotiate great plans.

He apparently knows close to nothing about health care coverage and so-called competition in health insurance and even less about the average person.
