A Volt for the middle class priced higher than a Mercedes

Let’s hope the middle class Americans so interested in the environment are able to shell out $41,000 plus for the new Chevy Volt.

A starting price of $41,000 puts it with the Mercedes C Class but no matter it’s “green” at least for the first forty miles you drive it each day. Then you run on gas or plug it in.

Never fear, you also can get a $7,500 tax rebate on the car($10,000 if you are young, Latino, a member of the SEIU or teachers union, African American or a regular guest on The View – did I forget anyone who may vote Democratic in November?)

Do you think it will get me from one end of my vineyard to the other? Hey this is a great senior citizen car.

Too bad all these rebates and credits didn’t coincide, if you had played your cards right you could have lived comfortably as a middle class American on your accumulated rebates alone…and you would have a new car, a new house and new air conditioning…perhaps even if you were unemployed. Merci Mr President.

“Wealthy”Americans may have to pass on the Volt though, they will be contributing their “fair share” in higher taxes.

Who knows, all the money Americans are saving on health care may get plowed right back into an electric car that will take them to office visits for free preventive care. If the distance is greater than forty miles, they can walk home with the added benefits of more exercise.

Who says we are not on the right track changing America?
