The takers and the taxers

I’m not sure what conclusions can be drawn by the comparisons below. But it would be fun to try. Some of the biggest takers are conservative leanings states where populations tend to favor smaller government and lower taxes, at least on themselves.

Some of the givers are higher income, more liberal … and prone to higher state and local taxes. It seems that only blue states of Oregon, Vermont and Maine are among the highest taker states.

Now all we have to do is match the political rhetoric coming from each state with the reality of its need for money transferred from other states (taxpayers).
