Where was your “truth” when the New Green Deal was passed along party lines and signed by the corpse? How convenient you said nothing.
Where was your “truth” when the Infrastructure bill was passed? What about the Chips legislation? Let’s not forget the forgiving of student debt up to a dollar amount. How about the millions of illegals we were told by Truth Sayers was actually good for us and did not cost us money? They were a plus +.
What a difference 9 months makes with certain folks. DOGE in its ham-handed way is trying to reduce spending.
Why not list ways the previous folks attempted to reduce spending–that would be good for early morning humor.

As my father would say:
“Quinn and his ilk have a plan for you that does not include them and they have a plan for themselves that does not include you.”
This was after Teddy Kennedy told folks in South Boston how busing their kids to Roxbury would be a good idea and the Roxbury kids to Southie that was even a better idea. Of course not for Teddy and his ilk. That meeting quickly broke up and off went Teddy to the Hyannis compound.
Life is so much better when we expect the same from both sides–like I say you guys are a hoot–all you have to do is list the spending cuts your folks (you voted for them) proposed–if I am to be responsible what about you?
Heck, months ago, long before DOGE I said PBS/NPR and Planned Parenthood–if those pin pricks can’t be sliced then what can? Little did I imagine that really was a pin prick. Even you are defending the lefty organizations saying it is but $1.50 per person federal spending.
Go ahead–live dangerously–list the spending cuts the previous folks endorsed–don’t be afraid!

When i hear “lefty” or “leftist” I wonder what that means?
Is the problem taxes or is it support for things like SS and Medicare or God forbid M4A?
Or is it the belief there are millions of “parasites” on welfare are bleeding you dry?
Do you accept that Americans in general can DIY for all their needs?
What is the problem?

You would have much better luck if you answered the question rather than try to slip and slide away. If you do not know then just say so–life is easy–hot water on the left–cold water on the right–effluent runs downhill.
Lefty is easy as personified by Bernie and OAC the two prominent ones travelling the country–solutions to problems are solved by government-government should permeate our lives–didn’t we just reduce restrictions on water flow from shower heads–toilets–water faucets, etc. ..To think we had such rules to me is mind boggling.
How about blue and red states–the bluer you are the more government is part of your life–if it works for you then fine–but so far folks voting with their feet and wheels tell a different story–when it changes let us know.
Retirement–well SS that goes back to the 1930’s–ok, fine–but for our grandkids I bet we could do better–M4A a good example of all powerful government–I believe the Swiss and Germans combine government and private so let’s look at that and see if it might work here–of course we need to help those who have issues–my wife right now is doing that and tomorrow also at a Jesuit institution that feeds the needy–much of the food comes from state/federal/local programs–fine with me.
You know a few weeks ago I was at the Forum reading through a SS forum you were leading–when I left, there were over 99 back and forth conversations,–one of the best discussions I had ever read there–you also did a recent one and maybe it was annuities–excellent.
My impression is that on topics you have great insight into one can learn, as I did, a great deal. When you start in on politics it’s fine with me. But when questioned you seem quite reticent to answer.
So, if I ask for examples of how the previous folks handled this issue of debt–spending–deficits— I would assume a logical response. “Here are a few things that were proposed to reduce spending”. The impression given is they did nothing but grow government.
If my side of the isle is to be criticized then so be it–it comes with the territory, they are trying but doing it in a poor fashion in my opinion. Not only that but I could easily give my areas of disagreement on DOGE and other areas.

Quinn has an ‘ilk’?
Seems like the most staunch conservatives Before Trump (BT) have become his most prominent and effective opponents, or sycophants, there seems to be very little middle ground. Trump is neither Republican nor conservative.
Quinn DID/does have a solution: raise taxes. If I recall, he said to raise taxes not just on the rich, but on everyone. I agree that increasing taxes only on the top one percent, or even ten percent, is not enough, but increasing taxes on the lower forty-some percent is illogical. Many are barely surviving as it is.
Tax me. I literally WANT my dollars* to go to pay down debt, support national parks, science, education (including college), conservation, health, and helping marginalized people.
Where is Jerry Brown when you need him? “We need more welfare, not less.” If you have no empathy or sympathy, try common sense, enlightened self interest.

There is a form for you offered by the IRS so you can pay more in taxes. Feel free to pay more.
Pull out the Google machine.
You cannot raise taxes in an amount high enough to make a dent in the $36 trillion debt in my humble opinion.
All I asked for is what the previous folks offered as ways to reduce spending. Per usual one gets crickets.

You cannot reduce spending enough to make a dent in the deficit/debt without seriously harming people and programs. That’s why the previous folks proposed increasing taxes

There are all sorts of programs that can be reduced without great harm:
1. NPR
2. Planned Parenthood
3. The many additions to Medicaid so it does not resemble the original program.
4. Department of Education student loans can be done by the schools and non-payment can be the colleges expense–they collect the loans they made or pay for them.
5. VOA is not necessary
$36 trillion in debt–sorry–time to reduce–I didn’t know the previous folks increased taxes when they had the majority.
Oh–your dollars to pay down debt–well, who pays for the programs you want?

It would take a monster tax increase to raise 1.9 trillion. The personal income tax would then need to be raised annually to cover increased budgets based on current spending. I don’t know how it will end but it will. I do know politicians don’t do things like vote in monster tax increases. They just point fingers and place blame elsewhere.
