Approval?

The recent decline in President Trump’s approval ratings (from highs near 50% early in his second term to the current ~39-42% range) is primarily driven by the U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict and its economic ripple effects, particularly surging gas prices and broader cost-of-living worries.

That immediate reaction to one event is missing the point.

The real concern should be the undermining of our republic, efforts to skirt our Constitution, to block freedom of the press, the abuse of authority and our military, the failure to address major social issues like the funding of Social Security and Medicare, the attacks on our judiciary and targeting political opponents, senior military leaders and others who question his actions and behavior.

We should be concerned about the racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia.

The concern and lack of approval should demonstrate displeasure over self-promotion, corruption and misuse of the office.

The concern should be over incredible self-aggrandizement by the President of the United States and in the process placing us at risk, especially on the world stage.

There is no self-control, no dignified behavior, no effort to explain ideas, plans or actions, no respect for others, no diplomatic acumen, just name calling, bullying and then claiming negotiating ability.

The concern should be over the constant stream of propaganda and lies thrown at Americans…like never before.

What is happening during this presidency is an insult to all those leaders who came before, even those with mediocre records.
