Nowhere is this more important than when politicians make promises and seek to appease potential voters.

Right now the quest is to convince voters they have ideas to lower prices and hence the cost of living.

Immediate actions like suspending gasoline taxes, freezing rent or imposing price caps have longer term consequences. Any action that lowers federal tax revenue has consequences. Any action that increases costs or lowers revenue for businesses has consequences.

Before you put your economic life on the line for a politician’s idea, especially ideas that appear only to negatively affect someone else or only business entities, think about the real consequences. The longer term consequences.
