TORONTO—Earlier this year, when I first described the guiding principle of Donald Trump’s foreign policy as superpower suicide, it was already obvious that the US President’s war of whimsy against Iran was a strategic catastrophe. Five months on, this failure is all the more glaring. Worse, it has provided Trump with another pretext to reward Russia. Weakness has begotten more weakness.
It’s hard to believe the way djt is sucking up to the murderous thug of Moscow. How much have we heard about the Ukrainian children in disputed areas being kidnapped to be raised in Russia by strangers? Have the Ukrainians kidnapped Russian children? I doubt it. Kidnapping children, indoctrinating them and then re-introducing them into their lands of origin to act as spies is a tradition throughout history that Putin knows can be effective in toppling the enemy from within.
