Every addiction has its price and you are going to pay it

The dictionary defines “addicted”as:

Addicted: compulsively or physiologically dependent on something habit-forming; “she is addicted to chocolate”; “addicted to cocaine” [addicted to health care subsidies, tax credits, health care mandates, subsidized college loan rates, extended unemployment, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Social Security disability, subsidized cars, air conditioning, solar panels, etc. etc.]

Ok, so I did add the section in brackets, but that’s the point, Americans are increasingly becoming addicted to all the promises made by government. That is half the story. The other half is paying for those promises, many, such as health care, that grow dramatically in cost each year.

If you listen to the politicians on the left the paying part is taken care of by getting the “wealthy” to pay their fare share. The truth is that to sustain all the promises involves all Americans paying not only their fair share, but whatever it takes to fund these promises fair or otherwise. The most deceitful thing happening today is politicians misleading you into believing that somebody else will pay the bill.

Think of it his way, many states have made very generous commitments to their employees when it comes to retiree benefits and pensions, that bill has just been fully understood since the recession hit and is increasingly coming due. It’s not just the wealthy who will pay, but average citizens in the form of higher income taxes, but more damaging through higher regressive sales and property taxes.

The federal government is no different, as more and more Americans have their hand out Uncle Sam will have his hand in their wallet pocket. So while you may support more government programs and perhaps benefit from them, don’t think it’s only the other guy who will pay. You, your children and your grandchildren will pay one way or the other and that is the real truth.

There is another consequence to this addiction, the simple loss of independence in favor of dependency on government. Millions of Americans have gone from unemployed to receiving Social Security disability likely to remain there the rest of their lives. Whether they know it or not Americans are trapping themselves, locking themselves out of the American dream and participating in a vicious cycle that assures they must vote for whomever promises to sustain continued dependency.
