Our government is based on a structure of checks and balances among the three branches of government, legislative, judicial and executive. The idea is to keep each branch from abusing its power. Over the years there have been attempts to skirt this control; Roosevelt, Nixon and others. There is a great human temptation to rationalize the end justifying the means.
So, if a person believes what they are doing is right, they can convince themselves and others who believe the same that stretching or even violating the limits of power is perfectly justified. Falling into this trap is easy if you are a true believer, but once in, there is no escape and the system breaks down. Are we at this point because of the dysfunction in Congress and the zeal of our President and his supporters? I sure hope not because if so we are on dangerous ground and no matter your political views, you should be very concerned.
Nothing is more important than preserving the structure of our government and our Constitution. Remember, someday a person who you vehemently disagree with may try the same thing.
If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what’s on his mind is something else.
The first term’s over-and-over subject was “the wealthiest 1%.” Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won.
The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But the real purpose here isn’t the speeches’ parboiled proposals. It is what he says the shafting of the middle class is forcing him to do. It is forcing him to “act”—to undertake an unprecedented exercise of presidential power in domestic policy-making. ObamaCare was legislated. In the second term, new law will come from him.

Obviously, few Americans took the time to read any legislation he proposed or co-sponsored while in the senate for all of two years.
Had Americans read that drivel… Like ppaca, He wouldn’t ‘t have won in 2008
Let alone in 2012. Now that he has the NLRB he wants, watch that body legislate via regulation.
He keeps promising his base what they want so… Get ready as few if any republicans have the spine to challenge… Clearly, they only resist because our President is black, or because we are greedy, or, because we want dirty water and air, or we want to deny children day care or an education, or … Whatever the sound bite is for today.
Let all who voted for the president step up and defend his extra-legal actions here … Appointing people while congress is in session, delivering the dream act when congress would not act, arbitrarily deciding what laws to defend in court, … Take your pick
