I received a fortune in my cookie the other evening, the first one I can ever remember and I doubt I will ever forget.
I think the words are quite appropriate for today’s society and especially our politicians.
My fortune cookie read:
The result of hard work is good luck

RIDICULOUS… of course luck exists both good and bad, and no you don’t make your own luck. We live in a world of true randomness. Randomness is sometimes confused with complexity when the nature of something is so complex that we can’t understand it but it still observes the laws of nature. True or stochastic randomness exists at a different level. This all gets us to the philosophical observations of luck, free will, destiny and predestiny. BTW if you believe in destiny or predestiny, why bother to work hard if you are going to wind up in the same place? The cookie should have read…”The result of hard work is what appears to be good luck.”

Don’t agree. The point was that to get ahead, you don’t rely on luck, you rely on hard work and create your own “luck”

No such thing as luck.
Whether one believes in divine destiny or determining one’s own destiny…
what some suppose to be random coincidences is really predestination.

I believe that was the point. Luck is really made for ones self.
