Never heard of Obamacare? Not to worry, you can still vote‼️ Holy crap‼️

Forty-one percent of Americans without health insurance are not aware of coverage available through Obamacare and only 38% are aware their premiums can be reduced through tax subsidies.

That’s just scary, but not really surprising given the general uninformed nature of many Americans.

What else do these people not know? If they did enroll through Obamacare, would they have a clue as to what they were doing?

imageDo not want health insurance, are they just irresponsible or plain stupid or simply willing to let everyone else pay for their health care when they need it? Take your pick, they are probably all true.

And yet, no matter … they can all vote as can the enlightened masses who were featured on the Tonight Shows Jaywalking segment. I’m betting not many of these folks will make it to the 1% (but will still complain about those who do). LOL

Kaiser Health News (07/29/14) Galewitz, Phil

A new Urban Institute survey of 7,500 adults between the ages 18 and 65 reveals that 20 percent of people who remain uninsured do not want health insurance or would rather pay the fine for not carrying coverage. However, 60 percent of the uninsured say cost is the main reason they remain uninsured.

Just 59 percent of those who continue to lack insurance were aware of the marketplaces created by Obamacare, and only 38 percent knew federal subsidies were available to reduce costs. Stephen Zuckerman, co-director of the Urban Institute Health Policy Center, says many uninsured individuals never checked out the marketplace, and many do not understand the value of paying for something that does not provide an immediate return.

As related on NAIC Newswire

And then there is this from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Most unaware that new enrollees under the ACA had a choice of private plans

The July poll also finds that four years after the law’s passage, and following the ACA’s inaugural open enrollment period, misperceptions about the law persist. For instance, about 1 in 4 Americans (26%) believe that people who got new health insurance under the ACA enrolled in a single government health plan, while 37 percent of the public and 29 percent of the uninsured are aware that people had a choice between private health plans. Thirty-eight percent say they don’t know enough to answer the question.

The poll finds that Republicans (34%) are less likely than Democrats (43%) to say that enrollees had a choice of private health plans. Other groups that are less likely to be aware of this fact include those with an unfavorable view of the law (32%), self-described conservatives (31%), and people ages 65 and older (29%).

This doesn’t say much for old conservatives; OMG, that’s me … it frightens me that so many people can be so poorly informed.

    1. Well, thanks, bob m. – you just posted a statement that appears to be erudite, but is in fact totally irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

    1. Well, John and Doug, you are both apparently so uninformed that you are ignorant of who the idiots in congress really are. Perhaps you are too overcome by racism, bigotry and hatred to find time to view and listen to the news each day. Let me help you with that with the legitimate idiots list supported by their own public statements: (in each case, they were either lying or stupid) – Michelle Bachmann, Steve King, Louie Gohmert, Scott DesJarlais, Dana Rohrabacher, Mary Landrieu, Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, plagiarist Rand Paul, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan – the list of right-wing idiot wing-nuts in congress is endless. Now let’s couple that with a partial list of your other heroes: failure Willard Romney, soon to be indicted Chris Christi, soon to be indicted Scott Walker, Marco Rubio LOL, mentally challenged Rick Perry, anti union elitist John Kasich, anti union elitist Rick Snyder, unindicted felon Rick Scott, black nut-case Herman Cain and last but not least smarter than Dunbya Jeb Bush.
Your apparent support of these morons indicates that you have both either recently undergone or are in desperate need of a prefrontal lobotomy. Where is valid voter suppression of the uninformed when we really need it?

  1. Very frightening indeed, Mr. Quinn. And, it goes along way toward explaining the current make-up of Congress. Everyday I wonder, “Who in the world voted for these idiots?”
