Who gives political money to whom?

Contrary to popular perception, money flows in large quantities to both political parties, with most donations from organizations, especially unions, going to Democrats. Even the top few individual contributions go to Democrats. Many corporations, trying to cover all basis, give to both parties. I’m trying to figure out why the City of New York contributes money to anyone or any cause.

If you want to know why nothing gets done in the best interest of all Americans, this is one big reason. The fact that teachers and public employee unions give virtually all their money to Democrats should tell you something about our ability to make changes in these areas or to better manage costs and enhance accountability and why many states, mostly Democratic states, are struggling with budgets and pension and health costs for public employees.

  1. If you believe that there is a difference between Republicans and Democrats on that score, I think you are quite naive. Many, many of the 1% are Democrats and just as anxious to influence as any Repubican. How do you think Democrats will enrich the middle class, by making them more dependent on government programs and subsidies?

  2. OK, Mr. Quinn, granted. Both parties receive contributions for their campaigns from very wealthy people and corporations. But explain this, if you can: Why are Democrats opposed to this culture of “congress for sale and the presidency for sale” and why are Republicans so strongly in favor of it? Could it be that Republicans, supported by “the 1%”, will further enrich their benefactors and that Democrats will further enrich the American middle class to ultimately insure the continues success of this great nation?
